Takutoumon[edit]

sure hope that pic is actually reliable. thats not how jp names looked on the previous chinese digimon's videos and no one is providing the actual video, and itd be the first one to actually change the name from chinese. how can we be sure its just not the guy making a name up? people make up the names icelordmon, magpiemon, and ikunmon before for chinese digimon and none of them happened. do we want takutomon to join this list?Muur (talk) 16:28, 12 December 2023 (CST)

Here is the announcement page. Although I'm not sure you'll be able to watch the video since it's only viewable via WeChat. Anyway, I've watched it. It's legit. If you REALLY want to, I can try recording my phone screen, but I'm sure someone will rip it sooner than later tho. ShikaSS (talk) 16:44, 12 December 2023 (CST)
someone provided the video on the wikimon discord. is odd, since thats not how teh pevious chinese digimon's japanese names were shown, i.e. xiquemon, but when people keep making names up for chiense digimon we gotta be careful. if this name does turn out to be bs, we'll all be looking dumb, as far as im aware weixin isnt the actual bandai and is a guy running his own fan site? should be fine for now if so, but i do worry it could be one of the famous made up names from the fanbase. it still could be the weixin user inserting his own textMuur (talk) 16:57, 12 December 2023 (CST)
also looking on twitter, people were calling this guy Vaisravanamon for over 6 hours because someoen made that name up, just like the others. this is why im so wary with supposed japanese names. its a good job that name didnt reach here like the other made up names.Muur (talk) 18:31, 12 December 2023 (CST)
Weixin is the chinese name for WeChat, which is where New Century updates are usually posted (similar to how ReArise news were shared on its Twitter account). Since players will have to link their WeChat/QQ account to the game in order to play, the updates are shared to the users via direct message from the official account, which is where I got the link. It's also the same place where the Digimon's existence was announced (the initial sillouette, the art, the chinese name, the skill animations, etc) as well as all the previous updates the game received. It's a completely different thing from simple community guesses like Vaisravanamon and Bishamonmon that have no official source, as coherent and logical as the reasoning behind them might be. okay fair on wechat. i used weibo for social media posts of new century, guess i shouldve been using wechat instead this last few years. as for the made up names - the fact people made up Vaisravanamon and Bishamonmon - algonside the other chinese made up names wikimon and the fandom have used - i think its fair to be wary when people are using names fo these guys. people proved this one, but then people also tried to pretend that icelordmon was real. wikimon was using that for like 2 years.Muur (talk) 20:42, 12 December 2023 (CST)
Sure, completely agree on your last point. Just wanted to give you some context for reference, in case WeChat's NC account is brought up again in the future. ShikaSS (talk) 06:56, 13 December 2023 (CST)
All I will say is some degree of scepticism is necessary in this line of work. Chimera-gui (talk) 14:18, 13 December 2023 (CST)

baishu[edit]

thats the name from the chinese drb/new century. japanese uses パイシュー/paishu. chinese name is 白鼠/Báishǔ. we shouldnt be using 白鼠/Báishǔ, thats not its japanese name. japanese drb doesnt even use 白鼠, it exclusively uses パイシュー/paishu. we are using a chinese dub name instead of the japanese name for the mouse, which is incorrect.Muur (talk) 19:29, 22 December 2023 (CST)
