Talk:Gankoomon (Adventure)
Cyber Sleuth[edit]
There are a few arguments that suggest Hackmon and Gankoomon might be the same character. The first is that Digimon Adventure was entirely Habu's project, as was Cyber Sleuth. The producer has always been very vocal about wanting to create his own unique universe with his games, so it wouldn't make much sense for him to feature different groups of Royal Knights in consecutive games. Re:Digitize Decode is an outlier, as the Royal Knights arc was conceived as a continuation of X-Evolution. The second is the promotional V-Jump scan [1] for Digimon Adventure, which indicates that this Gankoomon is based on the one from Digimon Collectors and might have the ability to travel between dimensions. The third is that the Hackmon and Gankoomon story in Cyber Sleuth is essentially a continuation of the Digimon Adventure story. I'm probably forgetting something else at the moment, but I think this connection is worth mentioning.--Shadow Shinji (talk) 15:51, 29 December 2025 (CST)
- "The third is that the Hackmon and Gankoomon story in Cyber Sleuth is essentially a continuation of the Digimon Adventure story." this is the part i have hte most beef with when people say it. gankoomon training hackmon is just reference book lore. now, they *do* say gankoomon and hackmon were from a timeline different to cs so that *does* mean theyre crossing over from something.Muur (talk) 15:27, 5 January 2026 (CST)
- That lore is part of the Reference Book indeed, but they could have done it in a way that can not match with each other. For example, Hackmon in Digimon Collectors share a similar story, but that story wouldn't necessarly fit in that timeline due to the events that happen there (the main events are being kindly translated by another user at the moment, so we will possibly have more accurate info soon). Not to mention Hackmon in tri. has nothing to do with all that despite being also an adaptation of that original lore. The fact that Hackmon and Gankoomon are in a journey between parallel worlds as confirmed in both games (I forgot to mention that aspect) to train Hackmon into evolving to a stronger self that would fill the last Royal Knights seat, from back to back games that share the same producer and are focused on the multiversal side of Digimon and actively try to unify the lore of the IP, to me it feels more than a subtle coincidence.--Shadow Shinji (talk) 17:58, 5 January 2026 (CST)
