About Yuujin

Hello Digiflower. Is there any reason why you are against stating that Appmon has an open ending unlike, let's say Frontier? During the last episode, Leviathan is pretty clear about Haru having to choose between humanity or keeping Yuujin. Yuujin's life is connected to Leviathan, that is why. This is the reason why Haru is so open afterwards about wanting to become an AI researcher to figure out if this could potentially be fixed in the future. The way that the final scene is portrayed, how Haru seems to be tired, and the dreamy filter, it's clearly meant to imply that the future is uncertain, so we cannot claim that Yuujin has come back right away, first and foremost because it is not really confirmed, plus it wouldn't make sense for the characterization of the characters during that last arc. Digiflower5: Hi because what exactly is going on is not explained 100% either way. I would like to leave it up to the reader to make their decision on the subject without being pushed one way or another. The other reason is that is 100% Yujin's legs outside the library where Haru is not even at. I hope that helps. Could we just put "how this has happened is unexplained." So that people can make their own conclusions? Thanks!

I can definitely agree about leaving the audience to decide, that is why I added the "it is unclear what his actual fate is", to convey the idea that the ending is pretty much open, and we cannot be sure about what is actually happening or if it's just Haru's imagination, especially after the events of the last episode. By saying "How this has happened is unexplained" you are indeed assuming that he has come back for good but we cannot sure how he did so, which is something we cannot be sure either. How can we convey this whole idea? I'll double check with an admin about this topic, although as far as I know, according to Wikimon's policy, in cases like these, the last paragraph could simply be omitted if the editors can't reach a consensus. Digiflower5: I totally see what your getting at, I'm going to see if we got some proof if he lived or not. It's been a decade I'm sure someone has said something more concrete or not at this point. Because I don't want to imply anything is the main issue. Wish me luck :)

Update: Yup there is no info on this online thats solid. There could be something maybe in the 2nd Appmon manga but that lacks a proper english translation.

Anyways what if we change "how this has happened is unexplained." to "The ending of this tale is ambiguous." That way the reader can decide what parts to them are what. I think this should cover things quite nicely. :)

I appreciate that one, but at the same time, I think if we directly go by the description of 'Yuujin calls Haru' and so forth to 'the end is ambiguous', we can skip the subtle nuance of pointing out that what we are trying to imply is that either: 1. Yuujin actually came back to live out of thin air (less likely given the previous context) or 2. Haru is really deeply missing his best friend/teenage crush while studying hard to, in the best possible scenario, bring him back in the future (more likely given the previous context). I personally think that by presenting this final scene like that, they were trying to leave an open ending and let each viewer decide by themselves, so I completely agree that we should present it this way and use the appropriate language to do so. Digiflower5: Thanks for uploading the clip, from my point of view that's not like a hazy dreamlike vision but more like the light coming from the opening ceiling in the bookstore. You know it's actually neat to have the discussion like this.

I'm not saying they did but here are some other theories to go with the imagination one.

1. Bootmon can reboot anything, so they could have used him to fix him up.

2. His mother could have felt remorse or attachment to him as she had multiple bodies at home. It is possible she made a backup.

3. Haru's grandpa is another possibility since he made Ai in the first place.

So yeah can find a way to write it that doesn't involve his fate and is more vague? Thanks! We both clearly love the series.

Those are really good theories indeed! I have never thought about them before, thanks for sharing. Anyways, I still lean more towards thinking Yujin is just gone for good, his mother could still store some of his copies, but what makes me think he may not return is the fact that Leviathan committed suicide out of pride, and based on what we know from the entity, he seems to be a very arrogant and vindictive Super AI, unlike Minerva, so I believe he really meant his speech about 'okay, Haru you won, but be sure you are losing Yujin for good'. Anyways, I have thought of some rephrasing to convey all this in the best possible manner. Please let me know what do you think.

Digiflower5: It's all good, heck I don't even think Levithan died out of pride, I think he just didn't have any other way of shutting it down and wanted to believe his way was the best for humanity. Afterall he wasn't exactly evil but just misaligned. He 100% thought he was doing the best for humanity and his own survival which is why Knight liked him so much.
