I'm getting about 10x as many hits for "Tactic Smear" as opposed to "Tactics Mare", including a lot among non-English sources ([1]). Also, "smear" has an accepted katakana reading, while "mare" does not, and is a bit farther from "me-a".

While "Mare" is closer thematically to "Sleipnir" (though it is a stallion), "Tactics Mare" doesn't make much sense, while "Tactic Smear" would imply tactically lying...or stampeding and crushing them.KrytenKoro06 18:06, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

The only defense I can find for "Tactics Mare" would actually be referencing Sleipnir's parentage, where the god Loki transformed into a mare in order to lure Svaðilfari away so the wall around Asgard would not be completed on time. At this point it could really be either because of the katakana reading, maybe there should be a note at the bottom of the page somewhere. --devkyu 09:57, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
