Talk:Digital World: Shambala

From Wikimon

Questions[edit]

  • "The idea of a "Central Asian region of the Network" dates back to the Digimon Pendulum 3.0: Nightmare Soldiers, where it was introduced through Hanumon's profile in the Carddass Digital Monster card collection." - I think that should go in Development, not the lede.
  • "This would retroactively make Hanumon the first known Digimon associated with Shambala." -- This seems like the wiki is using an argumentative (headcanon-style) tone.
  • "Many techniques and secret arts are passed down among the Digimon throughout Shambala, such as necromancy, Onmyōdō,[2] and kenjutsu" -- Sakuyamon X's profile talks about necromancy in the technical sense, referring to spirit-divination, and may be better served by using a synonym due to how the modern colloquial meaning adds a sense of raising the dead as zombies or servants. "Spiritualism" or "spirit-divination" may be better. Also, I don't really think "kenjutsu" is needed in that passage either -- it's just talking about Tenrin (and by extension, Meido-uryu) as a swordplay style, not kenjutsu specifically as a whole, so retaining the Japanese word may unnecessarily hamper the reader - esp. since Shambala covers both Japanese and Chinese-themed Digimon, so there will likely be some using Chinese-style swordplay. Also, this sentence implies that the phenomenon of techniques and secret arts being passed down is unique to Shambala, which isn't really the case. It might be better phrased as something like "the secret arts of Shambala include techniques such as...".
  • "Seiten Gokuwmon’s inclusion in EX-12 was highlighted in the July 2026 edition of V-Jump." I'm not clear why this should need to be especially pointed out. The point of that article was just to advertise the Shambala keyword, not to highlight Seiten as a special exemplar of it.
  • "Digimon featured on each device are given the respective trait." -- if I recall correctly, some Digimon like Kotemon do not appear on the device, yet received the trait.
  • "Despite not appearing on either device, [EX12-076 Susanoomon] features the Saiyu Warriors and Toho Braves traits. This Susanoomon also features the Shambala trait, is classified as a Hybrid through Rule text, and has the TS trait (referring to Digimon Story: Time Stranger). Similarly, the Time Stranger incarnation of Kunlun ([BT26-104 Kunlun]), the Host Computer of Shambala, is a Tamer card with the Shambala, Saiyu Warriors, Toho Braves, and TS traits. This treatment is extended to the Time Stranger incarnations of other Digimon, like [BT26-008 Kotemon], which are specifically given the Shambala and Toho Braves traits." - Following up on the previous, it's really unclear why this needs to be phrased this way. It seems more parsimonious to simply have a list of non v-pet additions, and note that they are presumably sourced to the Time Stranger characters.
  • " It is unclear when this retcon was officially put into place." -- This kind of language is almost always fluff, and is incorrect in this case -- the retcon was officially put into place once Shambala was announced.
  • "it’s likely the development for Shambala’s setting and concepts was happening simultaneously with the further development of Iliad’s setting for the game." -- this is speculative and kind of obvious. The concept that appeared in Time Stranger was definitely being figured out before the game's release.
  • "At some date prior to June 10, 2026, the Digimon Web page for Shambala was updated with modified art following complaints on an event in Digimon New Century in China (mostly on associations with the Rising Sun Flag, a symbol considered in China and Korea to be equal to the Swastika in Germany, amongst other unrelated complaints). Primarily, all symbols that can be related to the Rising Sun Flag are removed. The changed artworks featured Susanoomon, the Saneiketsu, and the Sanmyojin. Below is a comparison of the original and modified arts." -- this passage is very circuitous, and redundancy could be removed with: "By June 10, 2026, following complaints from Chinese players about --specify which event or when-- in Digimon New Century, several of the artpieces on the Shambala article were modified to remove features resembling the Rising Sun Flag, which is considered highly offensive in China." This removes a lot of the extraneous words, the portion explaining to the reader that the gallery immediately following the text is in fact related to the passage talking about images, as well as the bit that compares to the swastika instead of discussing the rising sun flag on its own merits. That these artworks were changed isn't because they featured these characters specifically, either, so listing the characters depicted ends up redundant to the artwork immediately being shown.KrytenKoro06 (talk) 07:15, 5 August 2026 (CDT)
Good notes, I made some updates to the page to take some of this feedback into account. Hoping it's easier to parse now for everyone, although I made no adjustments to the swordplay points as I'm simply unfamiliar with that topic and don't want make it worse. Perhaps you or someone else could take a stab at that (pun intended)? -NightwingFan (talk) 11:02, 5 August 2026 (CDT)
