Talk:Boncano Volcano

I've been adding the location pages for Re:Digitize, and I've once again come across the same problem which I had asked Devkyu a while ago. However, since he's inactive, I have yet to make a decision.

What should be the proper translation for ボンケーノ火山? I know 火山 (Kazan) is definitely 'Volcano,' but what is ボンケーノ (Bonkēno)?

The main hesitation I have with naming the place as 'Bonkeno Volcano' is because I do not know what a 'Bonkeno' is. Is it simply just a made up name, or are there some meaning behind it?

I currently have it as 'Bombcano Volcano' because Bombcano would be a portmanteau of Bomb + Volcano. However, this doesn't seem entirely correct, as Bombcano would probably have the katakana ボムケーノ (Bomukēno).

So which one should it be? If someone can provide information on what a Bonkeno is, or whatever else ボンケーノ should be translated to, please help.

...it is the last location in Re:Digitize that I have yet to create, and I do not want to deal with moving pages and such later.

Hmmm I'd say go with 'Bombcano'; I've tried searching before for any other meaning 'bonkeno' might have but I never really got anything, and Bombcano does make sense as a volcano name. --Garmmon 11:06, 23 April 2013 (CDT)

My only possible explanation for "Bonkeno" might be a portmanteau of "bonfire" and "volcano" but it still sounds really weird compared to "bombcano". I don't have the game so I can't really look at the landscape and see if there are explosives lying around or giant random pillars of flame.--devkyu 13:33, 23 April 2013 (CDT)

Hmm, I never thought of Bonfire + Volcano before, so perhaps it can be Boncano? The area is basically a sort of factory (reminiscent of Factorial Town, being in the same location as Factorial Town used to be) inside a volcano, with steel grating and whatnot. Below the steel grating are lava. There are also several warning signs as well as something similar to the nuclear reactor signs. There are no explosives or giant pillars of flame.

So I guess "Boncano Volcano" might work?
