Armored Dragon[edit]
What is the reason behind naming this Type "Ankylosaur" instead of its literal (and more fitting, in my opinion) meaning "Armored Dragon"? I know "鎧竜" is the japanese name for the actual dinosaur, but given the Digimon that have this Type I wonder if it was meant to be taken literally. ShikaSS (talk) 00:43, 12 July 2020 (CDT)
- They're not dragons, though. They're dinosaurs. And dissasembling the compound word like that isn't really a good way to get a "literal" meaning, or "giant stag beetle" would literally be "big hoe style".KrytenKoro06 (talk) 07:23, 13 July 2020 (CDT)
- You're right. I guess "Armored Dinosaur" would be closer to the point I was trying to make. ShikaSS (talk) 15:26, 13 July 2020 (CDT)
- It would, but that's even less literal of a translation than Ankylosaur.KrytenKoro06 (talk) 11:04, 15 July 2020 (CDT)
- I disagree, since the "竜" in "鎧竜" is referring more to "-saur" than it is to the actual word "dragon". On second thought, even that would translate to "Armored Lizard" which I'd ultimately say is the most proper translation. It holds the exact same meaning as "Ankylosaur" without blatantly mischaracterizing the individuals. I'd apply the same logic to the Plesiosaur Type. ShikaSS (talk) 12:38, 15 July 2020 (CDT)
