Burst Out! 3D Toei Anime Festival
Burst Out! 3D Toei Anime Festival (とびだす！３Ｄ 東映アニメまつり, Tobidasu! Tsurī Dī Tōei Anime Matsuri) was an event hosted by Toei, serving as the first "Festival" since the 2002 Summer Toei Anime Fair, which took place seven years earlier, as well as being the first to adopt the name "Toei Anime Festival" since March 1990. It was a quadruple-feature of 3D films that were released in theaters across Japan on October 3, 2009.
Themed after popular children's rides, three of the 3D films - Digimon Adventure 3D: Digimon Grandprix!, Digimon Savers 3D: The Digital World in Imminent Danger!, and GeGeGe no Kitaro: Kitaro’s Ghost Train - consisted of animations that were originally produced for theme parks and screened at attractions as well as other venues years prior to the event, thus making their first theatrical screening. The other film, Yaemon, The Locomotive, which was first published in 1959 by Iwanami Shoten Publishing and later adapted into an animated film by Toei Animation in 1974, celebrated its fiftieth anniversary by returning to the big screen as a 3D feature length.
All four films were released collectively on DVD on February 21, 2010 under the name "CG Toei Anime Festival" (ＣＧ東映アニメまつり, Shī Jī Tōei Anime Matsuri). A two-disc soundtrack associated with the event which simultaneously commemorated the fiftieth anniversary of Yaemon, The Locomotive and forty years since the 1969 Toei Cartoon Festival was released on February 10, 2010.
