On October 1, 2016, Messemon is infected with the L-Virus and wreaks havoc by revealing people's embarrassing messages and posts. Haru and Gatchmon defeat him, purifying him and obtaining his Appmon Chip. On October 8, Gatchmon performs his first Applink with Messemon.

Later, Messemon participates in the Appmon Ranking Championship in the Cyber Arena. At one point, he warmly greets his doppelganger, Puzzlemon.
