Talk:Turuiemon

From Wikimon

Perhaps a better translation would be Turyemon (based on the Chinese)? MK 08:29, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

Or perhaps Turuyemon, as the Japanese name is RU-I-E, not RI-e. MK
Years late to the discussion, obviously, but for the record: If I had it my way, this guy's name would be Tu'eryemon or Tuer Yemon ("Tù'éryé" is the proper Pinyin spelling for the Chinese word the Japanese/Romaji is trying to portray, and some romanizations add a space so that the pronunciation is less ambiguous). But ultimately, I think it's more important that it remain in line with the official romanization for now. Technically correct or not, there's no use in being arbitrary. -- turninto

Proper Name of Special Move[edit]

The translation of Turuiemon's Special Move is outright wrong. 巌兎 is not the word for the Pika rodent, period. 巌兎烈斗 is a kira kira name. It's just the Japanese transliteration of the English word "gauntlet" (Gantoretto) written in kanji word salad. Gabriulio (talk) 14:05, 9 July 2025 (CDT)

It's a play on words. The first two kanji together can be translated as "rock rabbit," another term for the pika (https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%83%8A%E3%82%AD%E3%82%A6%E3%82%B5%E3%82%AE). It's the same type of case as Matadormon's Bulldog attack. --TMS (talk) 19:39, 10 July 2025 (EDT)
