Talk:Monarch Lizamon
Hi all, I found some potential info for the etymology of Monarch Lizamon, however I'm far from a zoology expert and can only speculate the following. So I'm hoping someone can help make this connection better or a make different, better connection.
Anyways, the Gekko monarchus is a an obvious species to point to for the name. I've seen other ideas, like the "Monarch" and "Liza" pointing to either of the Queen Elizabeths, or the name pointing to the general "Tyrannosaurus rex" body plan of the design, etc. So looking into what might have inspired the choice for the Gekko monarchus, I found that the Gekko genus often have what's called "setae"; setae are microscopic hairs that interact with objects on the molecular level, meaning geckos can defy gravity and climb onto walls and ceilings and such. Now, the relevant part: Setae interact with the Van der Waal force, so when the geckos release this force of attraction, they essentially rocket forward. You may think of Gekkomon's wall-bouncing in particular Beatbreak episodes, but this also sounds like the "vernier thrusters" used by Monarch Lizamon (especially for its "Monarch Ordinance" and "Final Judgement" attacks). Any thoughts? --NightwingFan (talk) 15:33, 30 March 2026 (CDT)
- And now I have a contrary thought, as I'd totally forgotten the Greek "saurus" really just means lizard. Meaning you could alternatively read the name "Monarch Lizamon" as "Rex Saurusmon", which supports the "Tyrannosaurs rex" theory. For those who feel strongly about a potential Shambala connection for Gekkomon's final form, there is an Asian genus of theropod that is a Tyrannosaurid called "Tarbosaurs", so you won't need to abandon that hope to recognize this etymology for Monarch Lizamon lol. --NightwingFan (talk) 15:55, 30 March 2026 (CDT)
Evolves From[edit]
In episode 24, although Gekkomon call "Gekkomon evolve (ゲッコーモン進化)", the actual scene shows that it evolves into Arma Lizamon in one go before evolving into Monarch Lizamon. Monarch Lizamon Evolution Scene on YouTube at 00:39--Yuetmoon (talk) 23:20, 10 May 2026 (CDT)
