Tripmon is infected with the L-Virus and alters the itinerary of Karan Eri's prize trip. Instead of arriving at a beautiful resort, Eri and her friends are sent to a rather creepy little hotel. Tripmon is easily defeated and purified by Globemon, Oujamon, and Entermon.

Tripmon is the Buddy Appmon of Makoto. Makoto uses him as his first Appmon in his Ranker battle against Kazuki/Itsuki through an AppGattai of Yadomon and Jetmon.
Another Tripmon is the Buddy Appmon of a young man. Said man lost his bag while travelling in Mihamakou, so he asked Kazuki/Itsuki to find it in the quest "Where's the Travel Bag?". He had left it in a convenience store, so Kazuki/Itsuki got it back from SOLTi after answering three questions. Said questions made Tripmon, who was inside the bag alongside the man's Appli Drive, think his Buddy had come back for him, so when he saw that Kazuki/Itsuki had answered instead, he got angry as he thought he was being deceived and Kazuki/Itsuki intended to steal the bag, leading him to attack them. After the fight, Tripmon was mad that he lost to a thief, but Kazuki/Itsuki explained that they were asked to get the bag back and had learned the answers from its proper owner as he talked loudly to himself. Tripmon's anger was now at his Buddy for blabbing on about answers to questions that should be as secret as a password. Still in a bad mood, Tripmon asked Kazuki/Itsuki to just bring him back to his Buddy. After reuniting, Tripmon told the young man to be more careful and hoped they'd cross paths with Kazuki/Itsuki again in the future.
The Trip Cup is a tournament in the Cyber Arena that gives Kazuki/Itsuki 100 Tripmon Fragments as a reward. The last round of the tournament is against the same young man and his Tripmon. The man thanked Kazuki/Itsuki for recovering his bag but refused to hold back. He opens the fight with Tripmon and uses him every other Appmon.
