New Page Error[edit]

I've noticed thus error recurring a lot in the past week. It seems to pop up when I'm creating a new page. When I go to submit the page, it sometimes takes a longer time to load than usual, and when it finishes, says there is an edit conflict. Editing the page then will result in the same message and being unable to edit it. The only way I have found to fix it is to delete the page, then immediately try and resubmit the original content. --devkyu 21:48, 10 March 2010 (UTC)

I need to know what the error says. --Koroku 21:48, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
I'll copy/paste the exact message as soon as it pops up again. --devkyu 22:02, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. If I can't fix it, I'll ask pawitp. --Koroku 22:03, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
First part of the error comes up like this, I haven't encountered the second part (the new page being uneditable) again yet:

"Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."

Nothing we can do. MediaWiki is simply a big fucking resource hog. --Koroku 06:49, 11 March 2010 (UTC)
Found it!

"The database did not find the text of a page that it should have found, named "Dark Master" .

This is usually caused by following an outdated diff or history link to a page that has been deleted.

If this is not the case, you may have found a bug in the software. Please report this to an administrator, making note of the URL."

This is pretty much the message that shows up when you try and create a new page (usually after the 404 but not always) and it can't be edited usually, unless you delete the page first and resubmit it. When you try to edit it, it constantly comes up with the EDIT CONFLICT message.--devkyu 20:56, 15 March 2010 (UTC)

This may be due to cache errors... how long do you normally wait? Try giving it 15 minutes next time it happens. --Koroku 05:03, 16 March 2010 (UTC)

Red Frame/Blue Frame Evolution Question[edit]

Since I currently don't have a rulebook for the digimon card game, for the X-Antibody digimon evolution requirements (more specifically the ones from the original card game), when it says the name of a digimon that has both a regular form and an X-Antibody form, do we regard that as meaning it can evolve from either? I would normally take it at face value that it requires the regular one unless otherwise stated, but came across other cards where the specific variation was called for (ex: Metal Greymon (Red Frame) or Metal Greymon (Blue Frame)).

Need to know so I don't incorrectly cite evolutions from cards on X-Antibody digimon pages. --devkyu 13:30, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

Zukan Scans[edit]

Okay, I've finally started uploading the Zukan scans. I've given up on cleaning them up and resizing them, so here they are "raw" essentially. They're about 4x7 inches at 300dpi, so I hope that's big enough for anyone to do what they want with them. If anyone needs a larger/clearer scan of a particular page, just ask. For now I'm just dumping them in this folder: Zukan goodness --devkyu 17:57, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

Name Changes[edit]

Since we tend to do it everywhere else, I'm going to fix the names for all the digimon with double vowels, so Kyuukimon, Ryuudamon, etc will be fixed to Kyūkimon, Ryūdamon instead. It was already done for Shīsamon a while back. --devkyu 00:02, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

To be honest, that's really unnecessary, the way how those names are romanized as well as names in other media is extremely common as macrons and circumflexes are usually omitted for the sake of simplification, so basically it's a "short-hand". --Ainz ( talk | contribs ) 17:01, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
Hrm, I see your point. At the time I figured changing them over was an easy way to reconcile the conflicts between some of the official romanizations and how the kata are actually pronounced. At this point "u" for page names is probably fine.--devkyu 07:07, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

New picture every month?[edit]

Or so? I think it'd be a fun little thing to do, and we could involve the community some more then. :) --Koroku 23:04, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

I actually like that idea. It'll keep things a bit more lively looking. --devkyu 00:02, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
Yeah I agree. --Ainz ( talk | contribs ) 17:22, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
Okay, we shall do it! We'll do a Valentine's one early next month, or so eh? :) --Koroku 06:14, 23 January 2010 (UTC)
I want to draw the Valentines one! So many ideas >:3 --devkyu 07:07, 23 January 2010 (UTC)
Okay, but I say we also open it up to other artists in the fandom. --Koroku 07:40, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

Stats[edit]

Soooo this should be interesting, eh? :P --Koroku 09:48, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

Apparently we average about 1,200 unique visitors a day, and about 15,000 pageviews a day... just the first few days of stats. @_@ --Koroku 06:15, 23 January 2010 (UTC)
Are you friggin serious!? Here I was under the impression it was just us obsessive compulsive editors burning through the bandwidth. --devkyu 07:07, 23 January 2010 (UTC)
I lied. It's only about 1,000 a day.
21st - 1031 unique - 14,938 total
22nd - 1042 unique - 15,180 total
23rd (so far) - 1149 unique - 16,531 total

Discussion page header[edit]

I have no clue how to do it, but can someone please add that blurb about threading comments to the header of each discussion page? I'm assuming it can be done. Thanks. --Koroku 21:00, 21 September 2009 (UTC)

Slogan, favicon?[edit]

Do you think we should have either of these? --Ainz 01:54, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Sure, why not? The favicon would be nice. Not sure what to use for a slogan though. "We actually reference our information instead of pulling it out of our asses" sound good? --devkyu 03:56, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
Oh man, that slogan put a smile on my face when I first read it. And it's so true too. ^-^ --Maxanda 04:39, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

Usergroup color[edit]

I've finally managed to find out how to change the colors of particular users, especially to make admins more distinguishable, do you think we should use a different color to purple or remove the italics, etc or any other comments? --Ainz 00:22, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

It scared me at first, I thought I had broken something, I'm fine with it though. I'd be interested to here some of the non-admin views though, anyway you could add a note to the top of the Recent Changes saying that the ones in <insert text here> are admins? --Lightlowemon 07:13, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, there's a MediaWiki-something you can alter, but I've completely forgotten what its called. Edit: Found it using the source code from Digimon Wiki. --Ainz 13:38, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
Do you think we should have a separate color for bureaucrats, or just keep them the same as admins? --Ainz 16:57, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
I guess we could, but is there any big difference between the two the would regard users? --Lightlowemon 07:11, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
There's not that much of a difference, only that bureaucrats can manage usergroups of existing accounts. I'm thinking now that maybe we should keep both the same color. Also, I was thinking that we could include some kind of "honorable mention" color for key contributive users e.g MugenSeiRyuu, Maxisfreak315, as well as a color for affiliates e.g. Digimon Wiki - i.e KrytenKoro. --Ainz 12:47, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
For possible colors, I was suggesting:
--Ainz 14:44, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
If what I say matters, I say go for it :) Valued contributors should be given pretty colors too~ --Koroku 11:25, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

Digimon News is borked[edit]

It's too wide and throws off the entire page. At least in Chrome. --Koroku 17:29, 22 May 2010 (UTC)

Fixed it. --Ainz ( talk | contribs ) 17:36, 22 May 2010 (UTC)

Not sure if it's news, but front page is too wide again. --Koroku 05:56, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

It is still appearing too wide? --Ainz ( talk | contribs ) 12:20, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
Yep... --Koroku 15:03, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
Could you give me a screenshot? I'm not sure what's causing it to be wide.--Ainz ( talk | contribs ) 15:13, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
Seems to be fixed. Maybe I just loaded it from cache. Sorry~ --Koroku 15:24, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

Cutemon[edit]

It has the most AGGRAVATING voice I have ever heard in Digimon thus far. I want to smother it. Somebody please kill it with fire. That is all. --devkyu 19:17, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

I found his voice irritating, they could have done way better than that.--Ainz ( talk | contribs ) 19:24, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
I was honestly expecting Tada Aoi to voice him but... I guess that was too much to ask for. --devkyu 19:45, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
It's a HE? Wow, I assumed it was a girl. --Pixel 04:05, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
Cutemon uses the male personal pronoun "boku" when he introduces himself to Akari.--Ainz ( talk | contribs ) 04:14, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
Wow, I had no idea. I really should learn Japanese, I'm tired of being left behind with Digimon. ;) --Pixel 04:15, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

Merry Christmas[edit]

Merry Christmas everyone! lol. Can anyone put something decorative on the main page for Christmas?--Daisuke Motomiya 11:13, 25 December 2009 (UTC)

Oh, I'm sure I can whip something up. SLEEP IS FOR THE WEAK!! I'll try and get something done before I go sledding tomorrow. --devkyu 11:24, 25 December 2009 (UTC)
EDIT: Okay, it's a bit late, but it's up! I have a much larger and elaborate version of it... but then I realized the tiny space it had to fit into and decided to settle with just Dracomon. I'll post the finished one as a wallpaper later if anyone wants it. Now time to go play in the.... rain >.>--devkyu 03:57, 26 December 2009 (UTC)

More Spambots[edit]

Okay, despite the ReCAPTCHA thing staving them off for a while, the spambots are back. Do we have email verification for sign-ups? If we don't, I suggest it be implemented. Might discourage them a bit more. --devkyu 17:16, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure e-mail verification is set up. :\ --Koroku 18:09, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

Changing colors?[edit]

...the top of the main page was green earlier today. Does it change periodically or what? o.o --Koroku 02:54, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, based on assigning a particular day a number in mod 7. On Sat it will be indigo, Sun - purple, Mon - the original color scheme (black/grey), Tues - red, Wed - orange. --Ainz ( talk | contribs ) 03:10, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
Nifty. --Koroku 11:21, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit]

The logo has been updated. As soon as cache empties out, it should appear. --Koroku 17:45, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

Is anyone seeing it yet? >o< --Koroku 02:49, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
Okay, it seems to be appearing for me now. --Koroku 11:21, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

User Sign-ups[edit]

There has been a constant influx of nothing but spambots for quite a while, as far as user signups go. Does anyone know if it's possible to add some sort of human verification to the registration page? If not, I'm suggesting (at least for now) to close new user registrations. The spambots are getting more and more annoying, and the programming they're adding to some pages is making it impossible to delete them and giving me errors when I attempt to. --devkyu 16:59, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

Just add "&action=delete" to the end of the URL to delete, or "&action=edit" if they changed the page. --Koroku 17:20, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
We now have a reCAPTCHA on the wiki now. --ARedMoon 17:44, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
That was me, by the way. :) Extensions on MediaWiki are too confusing. x.x --Koroku 17:45, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
You are officially awesome. --devkyu 01:38, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
No problem. I am way too lazy though, I should have done it long ago. --Koroku 02:49, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

Digimon Channel is back![edit]

Good news! Not only is Digimon Channel back to it's old adress http://www.digimon.channel.or.jp/ but Digimon, net is also now accesable without having to use Proxy Site! http://digimon.net --MugenSeiRyuu 10:13, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

Edit: Looks like not all links on the Digimon Channel Adress work ( Dictionary works however ), but they do on the Digimon.net adress. Also they seem to have removed some dead links, like the one for the Digimon Cardass Website. --MugenSeiRyuu 13:32, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

Regarding Agumon Black and YukiAgumon[edit]

Given that both have variations based on the Body Design of Agumon (2006 Anime Version ), would that make those two two more variations of Agumon? --MugenSeiRyuu 23:06, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

I think they might be more along the lines of Kudamon, where it's a visual remodel, but the skills and techniques are still the same. I suggest we add images of the body designs next to the originals, like how it is on the Kudamon page. --devkyu 03:23, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

I checked their cards again, just to make this one sure: They are not along the lines of Kudamon, because like the Savers Agumon, they are Dinosaur Types, as opposed to Reptile Types. Sure, some Digimon are classifid into more than one type, but changing their Type AND their Design?--MugenSeiRyuu 09:14, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

Ophanim and Throne[edit]

Aren't those two the same? Because Ofanimon is listed as the former, while her Core Version is listed as the latter. Also the Type Page names it the former aswell. Just asking before I mode something.--MugenSeiRyuu 22:32, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

Thanks--MugenSeiRyuu 23:29, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

Some Improvements[edit]

Just a couple of things I've noticed, firstly can we instead of listing every single time an evolution is shown in the media, just list one, so for on pages like Agumon we don't have hundreds of references to get to Greymon? Secondly, the Debut screen is a touch too big and ends up stretching the page, as shown here ([1]). and finally when Pawitp changed the skin colours, you now can't read changes that happened on the default skin for example ([2])? Just asking/pointing out. --Lightlowemon 03:18, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

For the evolutions, I would prefer to keep them as-is, as the problem of a mass of references only pops up for certain very popular digimon, like Agumon and Gabumon. You can never really have too much information. As for the Debut screen, it gives me the same problem on my current resolution, but looks fine on any widescreen format, I've noticed.--devkyu 04:29, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

I'll see If I can change the debut screen size and the changes background color. As for the reference thing, I think it's really tedious putting up every single instance of evolution. --Ainz ( talk | contribs ) 08:08, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

Thanks Ainz, concerning the evolutions, I agree Ainz,it is tedious, and considering we have to change them all anyway to fit the new referencing system , I figure, less work to do, easier time doing it. --Lightlowemon 03:34, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

Well for main Digimon's evolutions we could just link to their character page (like how Zudomon links to Gomamon (Adventure)).--Daisuke Motomiya 19:49, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

Regarding the new color change, is anyone finding it difficult to see the text (particularly the red text)? --Ainz ( talk | contribs ) 05:45, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

Zukan Scans[edit]

Now that my internet is back up, I can start posting the Digimon Zukan scans. Right now, the files I have in my online gallery are at 100dpi, but I have the originals at a much larger size, so if anyone wants any particular pages at the highest resolution, be sure to tell me. Once I get everyone scanned, cleaned and uploaded, I will be putting the original size in a zip file. Right now I only have a few pages up, but I'll keep adding more every chance I get. Trying to scan the pages in without actually unbinding the book takes a bit more time.

Here's the link--devkyu 20:00, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

At the risk of sounding ignorant, what is Digimon Zukan? Is it a manga?Daisuke Motomiya 20:03, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

Well, it usually has some little manga stuff in it, but for the most part it's essentially a glorified V-pet guide with pictures, profiles, and other neat little things in it. --devkyu 20:21, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

Biographical Information[edit]

The templates for the Biographical Information has white text over yellow rows which makes it almost unreadable. We should probably change the text to black.--Daisuke Motomiya 08:19, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

Fixed. --Ainz ( talk | contribs ) 08:47, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
I still couldn't see it. I modified the colors for the Biographical Information on the Motomiya Daisuke page so I could see it. Do you think it would be good on all the character pages or should other colors be used?--Daisuke Motomiya 09:21, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
Those colors work well and are much easier to see. --devkyu 08:05, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
Updated all of the anime ones. I also updated the template so the new colors will be automatic when new character pages are made.--Daisuke Motomiya 09:26, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

Digimon or Not?[edit]

I've got this figure that I've had for a while now, and I thought it was a Digimon. I thought I saw a picture of it once, but it's possible that I'm just imagining that.

Here's a picture of it: [3]

If that isn't clear enough, it's a green monster with a yellow face and a brown band on its forehead. It has pink, elongated spikes on its back, and it seems to be holding some sort of red sphere.

Is this a Digimon? If so, what one? --Atreyumon 05:42, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

Nah, definitely not a Digimon. --Ainz ( talk | contribs ) 05:46, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

Image Edits[edit]

Quick question. For the card cut-outs I've been working on, would it be best if they were all downsized and kept at 320x320 like the Digimon Dictionary standard, or should I just keep them at their usually-larger sizes?

Also, on another note, I got the Digimon Zukan in and am in the middle of scanning most of the book. I should have scans up within a week or so. --devkyu 05:30, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

I personally like the larger sizes. The card page template will resize them as needed (and they will have higher quality). and users can click on the card image to see the the full size.--Daisuke Motomiya 00:04, 13 August 2009 (UTC)

I agree, the larger images are better I find.--Lightlowemon 02:02, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

Card List Table, Attack Technique Table, etc.[edit]

I'm not too sure if this was addressed earlier, but it seems that the font color or something of the sort makes some of the Attack Technique tables a bit difficult to read. On that note, the 'Full Card List' is also difficult to make out with the default wiki skin. I suppose my question is, are we slowly changing these tables to be more visible, or is there a certain 'skin' that the wiki should be viewed under to be able to see the info without having to highlight it? --Tsum 03:45, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

Originally the default color for text in tables, but this interfered with other things preventing them from being visible so pawitp fixed this, so that's the reason why they're difficult to read. I'll add the "color:black" to each table style. --Ainz ( talk | contribs ) 04:06, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

Spam Accounts[edit]

Over the past few days, there seems to be an increase of spam accounts that seem to be in a similar format, for example "Blytheflynchj" and "Everettznealn‎", do you think we should add something to reduce this, e.g. CAPTCHA and/or email confirmation when registering? --Ainz ( talk | contribs ) 00:59, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

Don't you already have to do a confirmation e-mail thing to be able to use your account? --Lightlowemon 01:20, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
Currently, the e-mail part is optional so its not required in activating an account. --Ainz ( talk | contribs ) 01:34, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, activate e-mail confirmation then. --devkyu 01:37, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
Another alternative to test would be the extensions SpamBlacklist, Title_Blacklist and ReCaptcha, I'm thinking now that they possibly might be able to bypass e-mail confirmation, but nonetheless.... --Ainz ( talk | contribs ) 22:30, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
At this point, I don't care what method is used, because I swear if I see one more red User Creation Log entry after every three edits, I am going to destroy Shibuya. --devkyu 14:36, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
The problem is that pawitp has been extremely busy lately so if I were to ask him to install any/whichever of those extensions, it won't happen until some time in thew late future, unless I ask Koroku, but I have a feeling I might be unsuccessful in doing so. --Ainz ( talk | contribs ) 14:57, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
So what do we do? Anyway we can block the ip? Or are they changing it every time? Do we block the accounts? --Lightlowemon 05:46, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
As an experiment, I'll try blocking one of them and adding an IP ban to see if that works. --devkyu 21:50, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
I'll assume it didn't work then. So what else can we do? --Lightlowemon 02:06, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

Hey. If you link me to the extensions you need, or any config changes you want, I'll try to do them. I'm really dumb when it comes to Wiki, but I can try. :S --Koroku 02:16, 16 August 2009 (UTC)

--The bottom one might possibly be the most effective Ainz ( talk | contribs ) 02:39, 16 August 2009 (UTC)

New Reference Templates[edit]

I've created a reference template named "{{rfc}}" which should make card references easier to input, so instead of typing <ref name=cardname>''[[card name]]''</ref>, simply type {{rfc|series abbreviation|number}}, for Card Game Alpha typing in Da or SPa will automatically produce Dα and SPα respectively. For example: {{rfc|Bo|1}} gives [1], {{rfc|Da|001}} gives [2]. I'm going to work on a similar template for games and anime episodes/movies. --Ainz 14:34, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

Cool, I'll get to work on changing them as I go.--Lightlowemon 01:20, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

Digimon.net[edit]

Okay, the Digimon Channel has moved to that adress and seemingly profiles for AncientMermaimon and DORUmon are online. But has anyone been able to view that site today? Because I can't and I trird three different Browsers... --MugenSeiRyuu

Its not working for me either, unless there still transferring stuff. --Ainz 12:06, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
I really hope that is the reason. Would suck if the site won't be viewable forever.

EDIT: Seems like an ISP Problem. Was able to overcome it by using a proxy site.--MugenSeiRyuu

Yeah, I get the same results. I guess they hate us fans who don't live in Japan. -devkyu 18:47, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
How do you do the "proxy-thing"? --Ainz 19:15, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

I use that site: http://anonymouse.org/ and type in Digimon.net While it does not display the site properly, it atleast allows to access it. While I would rather not have to use it, it's the best I can do. Oh, also seems like not all people outside of Japan have that problem, just those with certain ISPs, as I was able to access the site from a Computer at my University.--MugenSeiRyuu

I've tried using other proxy sites and none of them are showing up for me, must be the ISP. --Ainz 20:38, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

In that case, I shall be your eyes for Updates!.--MugenSeiRyuu

This proxy works just fine for me and displays the page properly: [4] --devkyu 07:26, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
I've tried the site devkyu mentioned and it works fine, and I've retried "http://anonymouse.org" and it works as well. All this time I was putting "www" before the address, so no wonder why it didn't work. --Ainz 09:10, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

Can you view the site completely, or is the Flash part also blank for you? --MugenSeiRyuu 16:15, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

The Flash part's blank for me as well. --Ainz ( talk | contribs ) 17:45, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

Anyone who can see it? --MugenSeiRyuu 23:54, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

Nah, blank for me to. I right clicked it and essentially got Movie Not Loaded... likely meaning they took it down for some reason. It worked when I originally looked at the website with the prxy a week back. Maybe they're finally switching out that HEY, BRAND NEW DIGIMON TWIN ad after... what, two years? --devkyu 00:18, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
Everything looks like it's loading perfectly fine for me and the rest of Australia. --Lightlowemon 01:20, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

Good for you. Please inform us if you see anything new. @Devkyu: LOL! Yeah that and the LR Battles..--MugenSeiRyuu 14:17, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

Question about References[edit]

I thought I might as well ask this before I continue for consistency's sake, but how would I go about adding a reference to a version of a V-Pet rather than a card? That is to say, what exactly would I put in the <refname= > or the brackets after that? --Tsum

I'm going to work on a general ref template which should make things more effect, for example when typing in the V-Pet version, the ref name will automatically bet set. --Ainz 12:15, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Re: License Suggestion[edit]

I've had thoughts of going under the Creative Commons License rather than the GFDL, and the main reason being this:

Attribution: "Licensees may copy, distribute, display and perform the work and make derivative works based on it only if they give the author or licensor the credits in the manner specified by these" - i.e it will make it not as simple for unlicensed wikis or ones with incompatible licenses - e.g the GFDL - to directly copy our material without crediting us.

Anyone have any other thoughts regarding this? --Ainz 06:15, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

Who wants to copy our stuff?--Daisuke Motomiya 06:45, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

I have two questions about Digimon Tamers[edit]

Hi,

I have two questions about Digimon Tamers.

1. I have read, that Henry Wong has previously often thrashed with somebody (often has someone beaten). Is that so? If so, did anybody know the name of the episode?

2. Did Takato thrashed/beaten with Henry, have they a fight ( I've read that there was something with Rika and Henry would not be looking for her and then Takato has beaten Henry, because most of the other leaders fight with other, like Tai and Matt^^)? If so, did anybody remember what happens in the episode or did anybody know the name and number of the episode?

Many thanks in advance.

--Dragonlady 17:23, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

1. That was only mentioned, never shown.
2. Neither Takato nor Jenrya are the type for that. Fights like that usually are between the Goggleboy and the Lone Wolf, who in case of Tamers is Ruki. Ruki at first did not want to help when Guilmon disappeared, but later joined the search. But no violence was used. So I would say that this Epi is not what you are looking for.

--MugenSeiRyuu

Thank you for your reply :)
In whitch Episode does it happens?
Maybe someone else knows any other scenes?

Black Gaogamon[edit]

There is a problme with that page, as he was never named as such. Just as a black Gaogamon, nver as BlackGaogamon.MugenSeiRyuu

Hard drive failure[edit]

Okay, so I happened to suffer a massive hard drive failure a few days ago, and almost every file I tried to pull off of it was corrupt... so I might be not-all-here for a while, while I try and rebuild my archive and cheatsheets. That and my wacom tablet decided to die on me too for unrelated reasons, so image edits will have to stop for a while. I had most of my Wikimon resources backed up, but it'll still take a while for me to get back up and running. --devkyu 18:49, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

Wow, bad luck, hopefully it won't take that long. Good luck, and see you when your back. --Lightlowemon 02:09, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

Brave Tamer and Evolutions[edit]

Since the obtainable Partner Digimon in Brave Tamer are supposed to be the same as those from the Anime, and the Game is canon, could the Evolution lines in that Game be used to complete the Evolution Lines of the Partner Digimon from Adventure, 02 and Tamers? That means Ultimates for the Adventure ones, Baby Is for the Main Tamers ones and also Monodramon's Adult? --MugenSeiRyuu 23:02, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

If we were to include all of the evolutions from the Wonderswan and Wonderswan Color games it could get confusing. Though I admit that the Brave Tamer evolutions made a whole lot more sense. This really falls into the gray area. While the overall story of the games seems to be cannon, some elements of the game, particularity the battle system doesn't seem to be. Ryou and Ken don't seem to be able to evolve just any Digimon they meet, or over people's Digimon, as they did in the games.--Daisuke Motomiya 04:59, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

Well, this is not about Ryou and Ken ( who is not in Brave Tamer ), but about just the forms themselves. Yes, the System is different, but given that they are the same Digimon as those from the Anime, I think we could add them. --MugenSeiRyuu 09:10, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

To clarify it a bit, in Brave Tamer nearly all the Digimon ( with the Expection of Monodramon, AFTER defeating Mille ) follow a single evolutionary non-branched line. The one based on the Anime. You know what is unfortunately often called the "True Line". Using Brave Tamer,we would be able to complete the Anime Lines so far. This would add Ultimates for the Adventure and 02 Digimon, aswell as Baby I Forms for the Tamers ones ( which are, unsurprisingly, exactly those designed to be their Baby I Forms...) aswell as Strikedramon as Monodramon's Adult--MugenSeiRyuu 23:19, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

I have no problem with adding them. We can simply put a note at the bottom of the page which evolutions are from the Brave Tamer game, if we decide to do so. Though, one thing: Would we add Z'd Millenniumon to Monodramon's evolution line, as he is an accessible evolution of Cyberdramon after you beat the game? --devkyu 01:35, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

Yes, I thought we would put a note, or give a source where those come from. Just like with the regular Digimon Entries. Probably should have mentioned that. Adding Z'd Mille to Monodramon ? I think so, but ofcourse with a note where it comes from. --MugenSeiRyuu 10:09, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

Okay, I edited the profiles. Problme is that the Reference to Brave Tamer shows up three times in Cyberdramon's and V-mon's notes, aswell as two times in those of Hawkmon and Armadimon. Also, GranKuwagamon does not show up on Wormmon's page.--MugenSeiRyuu 23:28, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

I know what the problem is for Wormmon's. The template isn't designed for any more than three Ultimates. I'll just give it a quick edit and it should show up. I'll check the multiple references showing up. I remember having that problem a while back. --devkyu 02:46, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
EDIT: Okay, I found the problem with the references. It's missing the "refname" part in the beginning. If that part isn't added, every reference (even if they are the same) will come up as seperate ones rather than all being listed under a single one. --devkyu 02:50, 10 September 2009 (UTC)

Anode/Cathode Tamer Sprites[edit]

So, for SCIENCE, I am forcing myself to play this evil, evil game and I might just waste my time even more and do sprite rips. What I want to know is how I should have these in an image file. Most digimon have a field sprite, attacking sprite, and defending sprite. Some characters that you can talk to on the map (story characters, Digimon around File Island, etc.) have an icon of their face during dialogue. And Variable digimon (whose only appearance are in special techniques) only have a single sprite.

Should the images be in a single file horizontally, or should they be in more of a "box" shape, with two on the top and two on the bottom? I'm asking this mostly because I plan to eventually upload them all here. Also, since I'm ripping from the V-dramon version, any ideas for a name format? anodecathodetamervdramonversion_agumon.png is a bit... excessive. maybe agumon_actamer.png might suffice. --devkyu 06:44, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

IMO, I think that the images would look better in the shape of a box, but then again we could test both of them out. --Ainz 07:21, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

I also think the box would probably work, and for the naming convention, actv_agumon.png, it's a lot shorter --Lightlowemon 07:45, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Okay, I uploaded a test version. It's missing one sprite, but here's the basic layout so far. Agumon actv.png In-game, most of the images have a white border around them, but I just deleted it for consistency. --devkyu 08:11, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

I am searching for certain scenes in Digimon (Anime)[edit]

Hi,

I hope I'm in the right community. In some anime shows (e.g. Naruto, Dragon Ball, One Piece, etc), there are scenes where they fight (Digidestined, "Chosen Kids"), someone have to pee or someone gets hit into the nuts and thats in the form of funny or strange. Such scenes I haven't seen in Digimon (except with Tai and Matt^^).

Is there such scenes in Digimon and have you ever seen such (maybe in an Digimon Movie? If possible with episode number, please)?

Many thanks in advance.

--Dragonlady 17:01, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

Oh...well the closest I've seen is in Digimon Adventure Episode 46 where Metal Etemon farts in Pinocchimon (Puppetmon)'s face, and Digimon Adventure 02 Episode 22 where Daisuke (Davis) and V-mon (Veemon) accidentally sees a Tortamon (Tortomon) urinating and it gets angry and chases him down. Both of these are cut from the NA dub though.--Daisuke Motomiya 01:38, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

There is also, in Digimon Adventure, when they return from the Digital World, Koromon poops in the back of someone's van. Also, almost any scene with Scumon (Sukamon) or Numemon, fecal matter is guarenteed to be thrown. Also, for groin attacks, the first episode of Digimon Savers where Masaru is fighting Agumon, Masaru gets kicked below the belt. --devkyu 01:46, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

Other then those you were told about here and on With The Will, in the first movie, Digimon Adventure, isn't there numerous poop scenes? --Lightlowemon 06:07, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

Hi,

Thank you for your answers :) Yes, such scenes I searched. I did not know whether I'm right here, so I have it still in the With The Will forum written, too.

--Dragonlady 16:26, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

Colors[edit]

From Digimon Wiki:

I dunno how to contact them, but can you tell them to be careful on how they use colors? With their white text, it makes some stuff unreadable, like the human pages and their help page. Lanate (talk) 02:47, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

Originally the default color for text in tables was black, but this interfered with other things, preventing them from being visible so pawitp fixed this by changing it to white, so that's the reason why they're difficult to read. I'll add the "color:black" to each table style, which is going take some time. --Ainz ( talk | contribs ) 07:02, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

Profiles and Sources not showing up[edit]

WarGreymon X-antibody's Profile does not show up on the page. Neither does the source for Panjyamon as an Adult Level nor Otamamon as Baby II.

The issue with the sources not appearing has occurred on some other pages as well but I'm not sure what's causing it, as for Wargreymon X-Antibody's profile, its due to the "<!--" and "-->", but I can't find an official profile with that content in it, which is why it's hidden; the closest I can find is the one from the Digimon Chronicle 1.0 page. I've tried looking for one in the Pendulum-X gallery but I'm not sure what URL it comes under. --Ainz 21:31, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Ah, I see. The page for the pendulum itself does not have all the profiles.

Also, for some odd reason, the D-1 Tamer source appears several times on the V-dramon subspecies and Elecmon pages. MugenSeiRyuu

I've fixed them. --Ainz 22:24, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Thanks. Hmm, just chekd Nefertimon. That she is Armor also does not show up. MugenSeiRyuu

Fixed it. --Ainz 09:36, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Thamks. Now I have the same Problem for Magnamon. His Dictionary Profile labels him an Ultimate, but it does not show up.MugenSeiRyuu

Fixed. --Ainz 03:30, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

Character Template[edit]

I'm going to attempt to work on a base for a template for the human anime/manga characters, Template:Chara1, since they are practically the only pages that don't use one at this point. Does anyone have any more suggestions for it? I was also thinking of implementing Debut options into it somehow. --devkyu 01:30, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

I was thinking that we could add the voice actors from other languages besides the American dub and the original, maybe as a drop-down table for the anime characters. --Ainz 00:29, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

That's actually a good idea. Maybe it could be set up similar to the Digimon template, with an image and relevant biographical information on the right, and on the left have tabs and drop-downs for name etymology, voice actors, and character appearances. --devkyu 01:07, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

I've got another idea as well regarding character images, if there is more than one available, i.e. Digimon Adventure characters, we could have tabs that will retain the same info, but switch the image, and if there isn't, then no tabs will appear, something similar to this, although it in its experimental stage. --Ainz 02:00, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

I was over on the [5] Heroes wiki, and I was thinking that maybe we might be able to have episode by episode appearance like what they did, but only when we had everything running smoothly here. As well as up to date stuff. This idea is a ways off happening. --Lightlowemon 02:13, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

Belphemon Sleep Mode[edit]

In its Savers profile it clearly mentions that it's counted as one of the Seven Great Demon Lords but yet in other media (i.e cards) Belphemon Rage Mode is specifically stated to be one of the Seven Great Demon Lords as opposed to Sleep Mode. But since the majority of Savers profiles are basically direct quotes from Digimon's official profiles, we don't know if this is the same case. How should it be included in the SDGLs article, with it being a debatable issue? On a similar note, Beelzebumon X-Antibody is also counted as one of them, but that's been confirmed solidly in Dα-497 and Bx-163. --Ainz 18:29, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Question, what about the Lucemon forms, how are they going to be included, I mean Falldown is the only full one, but what about plain old Lucemon? On that note also Larvae Mode. --Lightlowemon 02:19, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
Lucemon: Satan Mode would definitely be the other main Lucemon form to include in relation to the SDGLs' crests as wellas some other SGDL related stuff, along with Odudomon, but ordinary Lucemon currently hasn't been involved with the SGDLs as a group.--Ainz 07:28, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

Seven Great Demon Lords' Crests[edit]

Does anyone know where there are HQ versions of the crests? The only other thing I can think of is Digimon Savers: Another Mission but I don't know how they're displayed in the game aside from being shown in attacks.--Ainz 02:11, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

I checked my image collections haven't found anything. The only other place I can think of aside from Another Mission is the digimon02.net Battle Terminal site. I've been searching through it, but so far I haven't found any images of the crests.

EDIT: It's likely impossible to get good quality rips from, but there's pictures of the crests in the Battle Terminal 02 game. They can be seen near the end of the Jump Fest 2008 video under Movies. I say we hijack an arcade and steal all their Battle Terminals. --devkyu 03:40, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

I haven't found anything, not that I have a large amount of resources, weren't there cards in the alpha set that had the crests for the SGDL on them? I second dev's motion, arcade hi-jacking, unfortunately I can't help with that, never seen a battle terminal game at the few arcades I've seen. I have a copy of Bx-148 if it helps though, it has the crests, but their small. --Lightlowemon 03:51, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

I was also looking at some Youtube videos and came across this. If only the crests were in higher quality... Edit: Also this --Ainz 04:04, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

All I can find is the 270 x 209 image. --Lightlowemon 04:11, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Gomamon2000 Card Database[edit]

It's going off-line soon... --Lightlowemon 12:57, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

A real shame. Looks like I need to look into how to download the entire database with minimal effort... EDIT: Okay, I'm working on getting the database running on my own server space. I'll try and have a link to it up soon if I succeed in figuring it out. --devkyu 22:13, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

Okay, getting everything up and running. I still have some more to upload, but all of the card images from the Card Database are in the gallery if you want specific ones, or if you just want the entire thing, a link to the .RAR file of all of them is on the front page here. If anyone thinks of anything else, tell me here.--devkyu 05:56, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

Errors[edit]

Is anyone else getting redirected to a non-existant page called 500.shtml at random times when you click to go to another page?--Daisuke Motomiya 18:49, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

I've contacted the server administrator about it who is trying to resolve the problem. --Ainz 20:08, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

I sent off a mail to Koroku,I find that I mostly get it after hitting the save page button, I'm also randomly getting a white background instead of the black one. Besides from this I think that the 500 problem is making some edits not show up in recent changes, for example I went through and added the references for the new cards, eg. [6] this edit.--Lightlowemon 01:19, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

I'm getting it a lot randomly too, but usually not on Recent Changes or image pages. --devkyu 03:27, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

Do people not read the properly titled "Admin Announcements"? --Koroku 15:24, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

I do, that's why I e-mailed you, just to make sure. --Lightlowemon 08:10, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

Alpha Card Images[edit]

Well, I just discovered that Wikimon can't have image filenames with the "α" symbol and it causes an error. Should images be uploaded with a regular "a" in the filename instead? (ex: Da-001)?

Yeah, I've just modified the Template. --Ainz 04:46, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

May as well, how else could we do it? After all, it looks like only you and Devkyu can upload card images as I only have a dew English cards, none of them Alpha, all Booster and/or Starter. May I ask why there is such a big difference between the design for the Bo/St etc. than for Alpha/Battle Terminal? --Lightlowemon 08:48, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

The templates are designed to be similar to the actual layout of a card. The current appearance of the Alpha template will change, for now its just a basic backbone. What type of English cards do you have? We could extend the range of cards to include ones outside Japan. --Ainz 09:01, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

I'll have to find them, the only card I remember off the top of my head though is a Holographic Saber Leomon. I also have a few of the Adventure Character cards, some of the D-Tector cards, the whole set of Digi-FX cards and most of the 02 Battle Cards, the FX and Battle Cards are from chip packets though. I live in Australia unfortunately which means it is heaps difficult for me to get anything Digimon related, even when it was popular. --Lightlowemon 10:30, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

I also have quite a few of the Character cards, almost the whole set, a few promotional D-Tector cards, and the first english Hyper Colosseum set, as far as english cards go.--devkyu 12:05, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

Page Amount[edit]

Was surfing over on Bulbapedia and found some coding that might help with the page count so it doesn't have to be manually changed, I'll just copy the whole message:

What does MediaWiki think an article is? The MediaWiki code is as follows:

# Would the given text make this article a "good" article (i.e.,
# suitable for including in the article count)?
function isCountable( $text )
{
	global $wgUseCommaCount, $wgMwRedir;

	if ( 0 != $this->mTitle->getNamespace() ) { return 0; }
	if ( $wgMwRedir->matchStart( $text ) ) { return 0; }
	$token = ($wgUseCommaCount ? ',' : '[[' );
	if ( false === strstr( $text, $token ) ) { return 0; }
	return 1;
}

This means that any article that is in the main namespace (i.e. not prefixed with Bulbapedia: or Help:) that is not a redirect that has a link (or at least a [[) is considered a countable article -- since virtually every article, even the stubs, have a category link, this can be considered a very inclusive article count.

Here is the original if you want it:http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Bulbapedia:About --Lightlowemon 14:00, 25 December 2008 (UTC)

That's basically the segment of code that functions as a default on all MediaWiki-based Wikis. The problem is due to the system's cache, which is currently giving a misleading number of articles, even though the "excluded" pages satisfy the criteria above, i.e 2,540 compared to 10,250. --Ainz 14:11, 25 December 2008 (UTC)

Alpha Evolve 8[edit]

Does anyone know where to find a full card list of Evolve.8 - Four Holy Beasts Reign Compilation? I can't seem to find one anywhere, including on Digimon Web. -devkyu 09:56, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

I'll put up a list soon. --Ainz 11:36, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

Show/Hide Boxes and Spare Titles[edit]

I recently went through and got basically every speck of info on Aero V-dramon that I could, it is now for the most part referenced and I have a few questions, first of all is how to make a show/hide box to add to the top of the page as a todo list, the next is about a few of the evolutions, I hid them so they can currently only be seen in the edit box, but I don't know how to add them, what do we do with things that we can't reference, and finally, say we've added all the info AV-dramon for example does not make an appearance in the anime, so what do we do with that heading? Just leave it? --Lightlowemon 08:33, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

For the unused headings, just leave them. As for what to do with unreferenceable evolutions... not quite sure yet. Since so many evolutions could possibly come from the various WonderSwan games that are a pain to get ahold of, let alone play, I would be a bit wary about just deleting them, though at this point I'm tempted to. -devkyu 01:00, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

Digimon Analyzer[edit]

I've been going through the episodes of the anime (starting with Adventure and 02) and cataloging the appearances of digimon analyzer screen. Does anyone know of a program to use for getting screenshots? Also, I've noticed inconsistencies between names given in the Analyzer screens and those by the Digimon Dictionary or some of the V-pet pages. Should this be noted somewhere? -devkyu 07:43, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

The names from the Analyzer screens need to be acknowledged, the inconsistencies, especially in Digimon Adventure - i.e Vagimon (Vegimon), are due to them being very early translations. I haven't tried any specific screenshot capturing program, but I've used the image capturing feature in PowerDVD. --Ainz 08:08, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

If your playing them from files Media Player Classic can screen cap for you (go to the File menu then choose Save Image).--Daisuke Motomiya 04:13, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

Names[edit]

I've noticed a severe tendency for names to be inconsistently recorded across the different pages; for example, Chimeramon in most links /Chimairamon on the page title; I think this weakens the authority of the information. In addition, there are a lot of issues with insufficient redirects (For example, neither SkullBaluchimon nor SkullBalukimon redirect to Skull_Baluchimon). I'm against having so many spaces in the names in the first place, but I see that's been discussed and laid to rest, but at the very least the spaceless versions should redirect to the versions with spaces. The Golux 23:35, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

They'll eventually get chnaged to whatever their "actual" names are. The reason why they're still there is because all the pages are currently undergoing a small, but major time-consuming reformatting. In the case of Chimeramon, I'm trying to find out if its been "officially" named "Chimeramon" - I'm not sure if it's spelled that way in any Digimon Koushiki Daizukan volumes. --Ainz 00:15, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

Frankly, Chimairamon would be Kana'd differently. It's between Chimera and Chimaera, both of which are through Latin to english and pronounced in english with a "long e" sound (which means that either way it's still pronounced differently from the Kana). But from what I've seen in various sources, greek 'ai' is usually replicated as such in kana. Chimera is probably the best bet, especially since everyone's already using it for most things. The Golux 01:40, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

Wikimon Licensing[edit]

What license is the content on this wiki released under? MK 03:30, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

Can't wait to see them! I'm not sure about the licensing though --Ainz

Ah, well, it is important. I suggest using the same license most other wikis use: The GFDL. MK 04:50, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
I would suggest contacting Koroku about it as I'm not very familiar with, although aware of, the GFDL. If I remember correctly, when the original Wikimon was set up it wasn't included then either. --Ainz 04:57 1 September 2008 (UTC)
Hm, well, this needs to apply to the entire wiki. Please sort out the license the wiki uses before I contribute anything else, as this is a legal copyright issue :P I am currently working on Digimon Championship ... man, that game is slow MK 04:09, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

I'm okay with any license that you guys want. What works the best for you guys? --Koroku 04:26, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

I'd say the GFDL, as it would be compatible with a lot other wikis. --Ainz 04:30, September 15 2008 (UTC)
From what I've browsed about GFDL, it seems like it would work fine. I'm not knowledgeable about any other licenses, though, so I have nothing to compare it to. -devkyu 05:18, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

Sprites & Championship[edit]

Heya Ainz. Sorry I disappeared and never finished the Digimon Story sprites, but I've been sick and busy lately and haven't had that as a top priority. I have, however, picked up Digimon Championship, and would like to renew my goal of finishing the Digimon Story sprites, as well as complete coverage on Championship, with your approval. So far, I have a Clockmon, Togemon, 2 Lynxmon, Sukamon, and a Palmon :) The game has an extensive 'family tree' that beats the hell out of all the previous ones, I wanna get that up asap. MK 16:44, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

Alright guys, you probably noticed I haven't done anything lately...well, that's because I've been almost constantly sick, and when I'm not I need to spend my time doing other things. Digimon has always been a hobby for me but I don't have as much time to invest in it anymore. I'll always keep Wikimon bookmarked, but for now and the near future I don't plan on contributing. I'm sorry... MK 14:33, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

Digimon Image Size[edit]

What should be the standard image size for the new Statistics table? I've seen both 160 and 180 used most often (not counting certain images that are kept certain sizes due to quality and pixelation issues), so which is the current standard? --Devkyu 06:14, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

With the new quality images slowly being released, I would say 180px for the purpose of better viewing quality and as (an eventual) standard. --Ainz 6 September 2008, 06:29 (UTC)

Piccolomon.jpg Piccolomon.jpg

Unused Images[edit]

There are over 300 files in the unused images section. Aside from the DS Sprites and Reference pictures, will any of them be used for anything? This is mostly concerning Toei pictures of Digimon, cropped card images, a small handful of userpics, and some digimon analyzer screens. If not, I will delete them to free up space and categorize the rest. --devkyu 07:14, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

The Toei and analzyer screens needed to be kept, I'm going to try to see if I can incorporate the Toei images into the Digimon Articles, maybe they could be renamed? --Ainz 08:49, 13 Se4ptember 2008 (UTC)

We have plenty of space - don't worry about it :P --Koroku 05:17, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

Horrendous Romanization?[edit]

Is it REALLY necessary to keep very poorly romanized names on a Digimon's page, despite it being "official" on the Dictionary? A prime example is Piccolomon. It is obvious he is not named after a cucumber soaked in brine, and sadly those working on Bandai's website aren't experts at the roman alphabet.

Wouldn't it just be better to keep most of the names correctly spelled according to common sense as opposed to Bandai's half-assed, "official" guessing of how the katakana would look with the roman alphabet?

Also, what is the point of removing all hyphens and spaces from Digimon names and making everything lowercase? I have been dealing with non-digital life for two months and would like an explanation.(Example: Aero V-dramon = Aerovdramon) --Devkyu 06:48, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

Name Origins?[edit]

I've noticed that the name origins are being removed from alot of Digimon pages. What is the reason for this?--Daisuke Motomiya 17:14, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

They're just getting moved to the top of the page under Etymology as part of the updated Statistics format. Also the name origins for weapons and whatnot get put under Additional Information I believe. If someone is removing name origins without moving them first... then I have no clue what they're doing. -Devkyu 18:36, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

Image uploading problem[edit]

There's a problem uploading images as well as resizing them, leaving the following message, unless it's to do with getting the new HDD for the server:

Error creating thumbnail: convert: Output file write error --- out of disk space? `/home/wikimon/public_html/images/thumb/6/6e/Gaioumon.jpg/180px-Gaioumon.jpg'.

--Ainz

It's messing up the image in the featured article too on the main page. Is Wikimon really out of space?--Daisuke Motomiya 13:41, 27 June 2008 (CDT)

Has anyone gotten in contact with the people who run the server?--Daisuke Motomiya 18:11, 29 June 2008 (CDT)

I gave Wikimon 1 more GB of space... for now. --Pawitp 05:29, 30 June 2008 (CDT)

Thanks. Not to seem annoying, but what exactly does that mean out of curiosity? --Lightlowemon 06:09, 30 June 2008 (CDT)

Wikimon had reached the limit of how many images it was allowed to have on the server.--Daisuke Motomiya 08:27, 30 June 2008 (CDT)

Tabbed Navigation[edit]

I've found a way in which this could be incorporated into the wiki to make displaying some forms of information more dynamic, e.g. Digimon profiles as well as others. The only problem is how/where to add the script; I've been trying over the past few days and have failed.

Example of it in use

--Ainz 16:40, May 30 2008 (GMT)

Good news, finally got it to work:

Finally Works!

Just need to modify things a bit and experiment here and there!

--Ainz June 07 2008, 21:56 (GMT)

Example with a Digimon profile:

Ogudomon is a super demon lord with a grotesque appearance, having seven eyes and seven legs including an eighth eye. It is associated with all the Digital World's sins furthermore it has atoned for all these sins, very little is known about the mysterious power behind this embodiment, therefore even with the amount of Digimon to counterbalance it, there is no way it can be defeated. Its special technique is its desire to take charge (Cathedral) and plays "Oratio Grandioloqua"[N 1] from its mouth, producing a shock wave of movement. In addition, with its huge legs it can use "Gradus"[N 2] which pulverizes the opponent.

Good job, it would be a great feature to implement into the pages. I found a problem with it though, whenever I look at it, it appears on the left hand side of the page above the TOC and then it changes back and forth between the left and right hand sides of the page. --Lightlowemon 21:18, 8 June 2008 (CDT)

If you're using Firefox, then I've managed to sort out that problem, however as a result of fixing it, the page layout has changed slightly, with the TOC being integrated into the template itself. Also, it apparently does work in Opera. --Ainz 01:46, June 10 2008 (GMT)

Spaces in names (revision)[edit]

What's up with that? The only time I know of that spaces were in between parts of the name (which is incredibly subjective in the first place - Dinobeemon should not be Dino Beemon), is in the American dub of "The Earthquake of Metalgreymon"/The Earthquake of Metal Greymon". Not only is this conflictory with the rest of the American canon, which in every other case displays it as one word with two capital letters, but it has no precedent in the Japanese canon. --KrytenKoro06 06:58, 9 August 2007 (EDT)

Now that the majority of Digimon pages are up, I'm really starting to think that the arbitrary spaces should go, judging by several complaints, particularly since the original Japanese influences the way in which format the names are spelt. This revised proposal, in combination with the recent interception of the referencing system will help bring Wikimon back to the top. --Ainz --10:54, May 24 2008 (GMT)

I'd be for it. There shouldn't be any spaces before the "mon" part of the name. We still should have redirects from the common spacing though.--Daisuke Motomiya 19:25, 27 May 2008 (CDT)

BTW, should any letters (aside from the first letter) before the "mon" be capatalized? Just wondering because right now it is WarGreymon instead of Wargreymon.--Daisuke Motomiya 12:58, 29 May 2008 (CDT)

I honestly don't see why people are complaining so much about spaces in the names. It's not like it's going to cause the apocalypse. If they're that obsessive compulsive about it, might as well have the names in all capital letters while you're at it, because Japanese don't have any upper/lowercase distinction. -Devkyu 14:30, 29 May 2008 (CDT)

References?[edit]

New user, but I have started filling in references, but I realized whilst doing this, what do I reference? I know natures, evolutions and attributes, anything else?. I also think that there should be at least one reference for each attack for verifiability and some way to seperate the references into two lists, like the notes up the top and the references in two columns below it. Anyone have anything else to add? --Lightlowemon 06:24, 30 April 2008 (CDT)

Technique names have also been an issue as well, so in addition they need to be referenced, including visual evidence through game screenshots, cards, etc where needed if necessary to support it. --Ainz --11:01, May 24 2008 (GMT)

Is Wikimon running out of space?[edit]

I've noticed that image policies are being more strictly enforced and templates are being more resource friendly. Is there a shortage of hard disk space or something?--Daisuke Motomiya 18:32, 24 April 2008 (CDT)

No, we have plenty of space. Not sure why Ainz is doing it. :/ --Koroku 18:44, 24 April 2008 (CDT)

If its about that large mass of deleted files, I was only conforming to the rules Devkyu created regarding images, nothing related to capacity. --Ainz 05:56, April 25 2008 (GMT)

Cards (revision)[edit]

Here the coding for Cards. I figure since With the Will already has the Card Database, it'd be repetitive to try and remake every single card page in existence... so maybe we shouldn't bother making links out of the card names -Devkyu 14:33, 6 June 2007 (EDT)

Do they still have a card database? I believe they lost most of their stuff to the server crash. I can't find it at first glance from the main site so I think it died too.--Daisuke Motomiya 15:15, 6 June 2007 (EDT)

By the way, if Inputbox.php were installed into Wikimon it would allow us to make Card Pages faster. You could just punch in a cards name and it would load the template so all you have to do is punch in the data (after the template was created anyways).--Daisuke Motomiya 15:33, 6 June 2007 (EDT)

Okay, although they lack some of cards, especially option cards. There really isn't much way to organize them from that site at all. I actually liked the way we were doing it on Wikimon better. We had categories and sets and links from Digimon\Items. Although I know no one has time to remake all the links right now. --Daisuke Motomiya 15:58, 6 June 2007 (EDT)

Wikimon has the space and the people to do cards... so why not do them? :) --Koroku 01:53, 20 June 2007 (EDT)

It's been almost a year and there has been very little progress with producing cards, with there being only very very few users doing it, would there still be much point in continuing, especially now WtW plans to include option cards, etc? --Ainz 15:34, 8 March 2008 (GMT)

I've actually noticed the amount of card pages being made increasing (at least from glances at the recent changes page). And even if it does take us longer then WtW to finish a card database ours would still have an advantage because it's on a wiki making it easier to search through. It's not like anything else we've got here got finished very quickly either.--Daisuke Motomiya 11:49, 8 March 2008 (CST)

Reference Tags[edit]

Is there any chance that the Reference tag extension coud be installed? --Ainz 00:49 February 17, 2008 Done --Pawitp 18:42, 25 February 2008 (CST)

DigiCode?[edit]

Do you think we should include a Digimon's name in DigiCode as well as in kana? I've been experimenting a bit and I've tried it out with Nanimon's Statistics box:

Template:StatisticsSubspecies

Thoughts? --Ainz 00:49 February 17, 2008

I don't see it written out in Digimon. All I see is the word Digicode. Do I have to install something special into my browser?--Daisuke Motomiya

Which browser are you using? --Ainz 16:55, 26 February 2008 (GMT)

Oh wait, I just forgot to press the show button. Nevermind.--Daisuke Motomiya 14:07, 27 February 2008 (CST)

Performance Tuning[edit]

Recent statistic shows that wikimon uses the most resource on the server. I've enabled main caching and disabled page view count in order to improve performance. --Pawitp 21:42, 9 January 2008 (CST)

ParserFunctions and ImageMap[edit]

Is there any chance that the ParserFunction and ImageMap extensions could be installed? With them, I can try and resolve some issues experienced with other web browsers, particularly for the category hotspots on the Main Page. --Ainz 5 January, 2008 17:40 (GMT)

Done --Pawitp 19:18, 5 January 2008 (CST)

Categories don't work[edit]

Full Card List[edit]

When I try to load the page, the following message appears:

"Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 20971520 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 582762 bytes) in /home/wikimon/public_html/includes/Parser.php on line 4329"

I think this is the only page in which this has happened to --Ainz 09:28, 2 January 2008 (CST)

Fixed. Is there anyway to optimize this? It's quite daunting to see Wikimon snatching ~57MB everytime someone edits that page. --Pawitp 08:13, 4 January 2008 (CST)

I'll separate the page into major sections/individual pages --Ainz 5 January, 2008 17:40 (GMT)

Broke it up into the original card game and Alpha. Not sure if the first page need further sectioning, though. --Devkyu 00:46, 30 January 2008 (CST)

Baby I[edit]

Can someone explained why Attribute that had Data remove from all of Baby I digimons even thought other site have Data for their Attribute. Omagaalpha 10:39, 1 January 2008 (CST)

Where is it stated that they're Data? On all the official sites their attributes are not stated --Ainz 16:41, 1 January 2008 (GMT)

Far as I know Bandai sites that don't shows digimon at all with attributes with them. So where information on net from Bandai. Because when search I could not find any such information. Omagaalpha 12:56, 1 January 2008 (CST)

Even on [www.digimon.channel.or.jp Digimon Web], in the Digimon Dictionary section, it clearly signifies that they don't have an attribute, or search the V-pets on the site, the same thing results - e.g. Mokumonunder attribute (属性) its says "nashi" (なし) which means without, --Ainz 13:15, 1 January 2008 (CST)

Rampant Spamming[edit]

Bold text for Digimon[edit]

Wasn't it for evolutions seen in the anime or manga that were supposed to be in bold? Ainz 20:08, 8 September 2007 (GMT)--

Yes, essentially "story" characters. Some game evolutions apply, as long as it is a main character. An example would be the Pagumon from Digimon Story. Also, some evolutions mentioned in a digimon's profile would count also, such as Phantomon's from Bakemon. Although it wasn't seen in the anime or manga, one of his profiles (I forget which) states it evolved from an extremely powerful Bakemon. --Devkyu 16:37, 8 September 2007 (EDT)

ADDED: Also, evolutions should STAY in alphabetical order. That means bolded evolutions to NOT get moved to the top of the list. --Devkyu 22:48, 22 September 2007 (EDT)

Inconsistency[edit]

User 76.179.50.96 persistently fails to comply with the rules, creating pages not only neglecting the first rule and making it difficult for them to keep in format, but they contain poor one sentence lines. --Ainz October 22, 2007 08:34 (GMT)

Temporary ban. Problem solved. --Devkyu 11:42, 22 October 2007 (EDT)

Digimon Weapons/Armory[edit]

Should all weapons be listed on one page rather than on individual pages, seems pointless making pages a sentence long? --Ainz September 29, 2007 23:26 (GMT)

Yeah, one page definitely seemed like a better idea. --Devkyu 19:41, 29 September 2007 (EDT)

Talk:Main Page[edit]

Why does it link to a random page? Clicking the discussion tab on the Main page at the top links to a random page rather that a talk page.

The reason behind that was because that page was continuously getting spammed and is supposed to act as a detterent. Quote from the talk page: "If annon users really want to note something, they can use the Portal or something now. --Koroku 18:21, 3 July 2007 (EDT)" --Ainz 22:35 12 August 2007 (GMT)

A pity..Thanks for the clarification though.

wikimon.net[edit]

Before I move to the new domain, is there anything I should know from you wiki gurus? Is there anything I'll have to update that I might not think of right away? Let me know before I break Wikimon ^^;; --Koroku 01:26, 15 July 2007 (EDT)

I honestly have no clue about wiki updates and changing domain names. ^_^;; Sorry -Devkyu 18:57, 17 August 2007 (EDT)

More sidebar discussion[edit]

I split Help and Create an Article and put them in a new category with Rules and List of Images. Anything else that should be going there? Would it be good to make a section in the sidebar with the main categories, like on the Main Page? --Koroku 18:02, 13 July 2007 (EDT)

Images[edit]

Copied your message over to the Main Page. For something like this, feel more than free to use the admin announcements. :) --Koroku 17:52, 13 July 2007 (EDT)

How do I link it to the page???-Dranreb

To link an image to a page: [[Image:(Image filename)|thumb|left, right or center|###px|Description]] --Ainz 10:28, 14 July 2007

I think that there should be an exception to the rules where it states not to use a dash, which should be only for cards as the way in which the templates function helps to facilitate and make them less time-consuming to produce. --Ainz 10:25, 14 July 2007

Added in a section for Cards that allows dashes. --Devkyu 06:36, 14 July 2007 (EDT)

Question, when create new digimon page if at time of doing if picture of digimon not availble should link left in page? Should there be page that list all digimon without picture in them? --Omagaalpha 20:56, 14 July 2007 (EST)

Just leave the link out if there's no picture available. The official Digimon website adds high quality images regularly to their new Digimon Encyclopedia every week, so it's only a matter of time before all of them are there. There's also need need to make a list. --Devkyu 22:18, 14 July 2007 (EDT)

If read what said corectly say that there should create categories for digimon with no picture --Omagaalpha 8:41, 24 July 2007 (EST)

Information..?[edit]

Above you mention Meg-chan's Encyclopedia, is that the source or something? Clarification would be nice.

It is a good source, paticulary for TCG info. However Meg-chan chose to use English dub names for the Evolutionary Stages\Levels, which Wikimon doesn't use.--208.100.235.121 23:04, 17 August 2007 (EDT)

Featured[edit]

Do you guys want me to do update the featured article like I used to or do you have someone else on that now? --Daisuke Motomiya 15:05, 29 June 2007 (EDT)

--Yeah, I think you should still do it, I was only just getting it back into circulation. Do you want me to change the template to the way it was on the old wikimon? --Ainz 21:01, 29 June 2007 (GMT)

--Okay I just got around to checking it out and I beleive the new one is better. I'll start updating it every Friday if I can.--Daisuke Motomiya 11:21, 3 July 2007 (EDT)

Digimon Page Names[edit]

I noticed a bit of inconsistency in the page names. For some digimon that have the same name that are of different levels, MOST are NAME LEVEL, but some are NAME (LEVEL). Would it be alright if I changed all digimon with the level change in parenthesis to just NAME LEVEL, and any other differences, such as attribute (like Kyuubimon (Vaccine)), etc, just stay in parenthesis? --Devkyu 21:25, 20 June 2007 (EDT)

Yeah, definitely --Ainz 06:41, 21 June 2007 (GMT)

Main Page, Help, and Categories[edit]

Does anyone have or remember the coding we used for the front page, like to display the categories, news and such?

Also, working on actually USING the Help page on the sidebar now... what should go in the help section?

  • Formatting
  • Rules
  • Japanese (quick explanation of kana, maybe a chart)
  • Finding Articles

And what should pages such as Rules and News be categorized under? I figured "Management" might work, so everything is easy to find, or should it be called something else? -Devkyu 23:31, 6 June 2007 (EDT)

I'm all set on producing a katakana chart --Ainz 14:19, 8 June 2007 (GMT)

I've reproduced about 80% of what the old page used to look like, the only thing missing is the categories (and that Digimon Story pic) -- Ainz 19:57, 9 June 2007

Awesome! I found the Digimon Story pic and threw up a "placeholder" for the categories, or at least what I remember of them. Maybe Games and Toys could be split into multiple categories... -Devkyu 15:47, 9 June 2007 (EDT)

Hey, im quite new to wikimon, but i just want to know how to put digimon pictures onto pages? (Sorry that was me just now i just forgot to login!)

Card Set pages[edit]

Okay, I mostly finished with the Hyper Colosseum Full Card List, only thing to do is fill in the info for them. I was wondering, for the Set pages, if we could add a small table at the top, which could include: Set Name, # of cards, Link to the Previous Set and Link to Next Set. --Devkyu 22:38, 26 June 2007 (EDT)

Card Maker partly working[edit]

Check out Template:Card Maker. It should make setting up card pages much easier. So far only Hyper Colosseum Digimon Cards work though. It uses Template:HCDigimonCard and Template:HCDigimonCardTable to create them.

If no one beats me to it I will set up Hyper Colosseum option card page soon (likely tomorrow). Does anyone know what information goes onto the Alpha Evolve ones (both Digimon and Options)? --Daisuke Motomiya 16:47, 18 June 2007 (EDT)

Is it true that there is a "Red Frame" and "Blue Frame" concept in the TCG? If so, is it in Hyper Colosseum, Alpha Evolve or both?--24.172.194.4 16:52, 19 June 2007 (EDT)

Current Events[edit]

As the fandom is kinda dead at the moment, and it never really was up to date on the old Wikimon... should we just get rid of it? It really doesn't serve any use... and considering it's still blank now, weeks after Wikimon has restarted... Gimme thoughts? --Koroku 15:07, 20 June 2007 (EDT)

I think it should definitely be removed, after all the news section on the main page has pretty much made it redundant. --Ainz 20:15, 20 June 2007 (GMT)

I changed it. Is that what you meant?--Daisuke Motomiya 15:41, 20 June 2007 (EDT)

Indeed! Bravo~ --Koroku 16:00, 20 June 2007 (EDT)

Links to the subsites[edit]

Is they anyway of having quicker short cuts to the subsites, especially with the main page and forum doing so (rather than on the DATs.us article) for extra infrastructural consistency, or will that come later on in time? -- Ainz 14:41, 20 June 2007

Can't you just use external links to the subsite's URL?--Daisuke Motomiya 14:05, 20 June 2007 (EDT)

You mean adding links to the various parts here on Wikimon? Like in the sidebar? I hadn't been planning on doing it, but I suppose I could do it. Just need to look around and see if I can find where to edit such things. --Koroku 14:45, 20 June 2007 (EDT)

Done --Koroku 15:35, 20 June 2007 (EDT)

Nice! --Ainz 20:37, 20 June 2007 (GMT)

Template featured returns[edit]

I've managed to reproduce somethnig very similar to the old past template, using V-mon as a test. On how it works -

{{Featured|Page name|Image name|Image description|Content|Page link}} --Ainz 18:56, 9 June 2007 (GMT)

Attacks and Categories[edit]

Can whoever made the last table for attack techniques on the old Wikimon post it here? Then, well need someone who can do alot of repetitive edits to apply it to the pages being generated. Also, pages need categories. Although lets be sure to avoid that problem with "unknown" statistics that happened last time. I'm going to try and start on creating redirects for different segmentations of Digimon names.--Daisuke Motomiya 10:51, 6 June 2007 (EDT)

Is that referring to the the table with the attacks in them like this?:

Name Translation Kanji/Kana Romanization Dub Description
Baby Flame ? ? Pepper Breath
Baby Burner ? ?
Kuuchuu Baby Flame Air Baby Flame ? ?
Spitfire ? ?

--Ainz 16:02, 6 June 2007 (GMT)

Yeah that's it.--Daisuke Motomiya 11:03, 6 June 2007 (EDT)

Userpages[edit]

Oh, by the way, I remember on the previous Wikimon someone mentioned that people never posted on their user page... so I am defiling all your User Pages until you decide what you want to do with them to make them pretty in your own ways. -Devkyu 01:19, 7 June 2007 (EDT)

Thanks alot....--Daisuke Motomiya 12:21, 7 June 2007 (EDT)

Problems[edit]

- Currently, I get an error with thumbnails. -Devkyu 02:36, 6 June 2007 (EDT) Example: http://wiki.dats.us/index.php/Image:Velgmon.jpg

Fixed it for you. Sorry, it was a stupid mistake on my part. --Koroku 15:07, 6 June 2007 (EDT)

What Happened?[edit]

Hey, i have a question, what happened to the orginal Wikimon? --Eldarone 00:32, 6 June 2007 (EDT)

The server that it was on took a vacation and has no intention of ever coming back. It was formatted and all data was lost. --Koroku 00:34, 6 June 2007 (EDT)
