Hubmon was designed by longtime Digimon designer Watanabe Kenji as a mascot for "Hubmon's Dokudoku Hublog" (ハブモンのドクドクハブログ Habumon no dokudoku haburogu), the development blog for the video games Digimon Story: Super Xros Wars Blue and Red. It was labeled in the blog as an "unofficial Digimon".[1]
Hubmon's design reflects all three things on which its name is a pun. It is a snake with similar coloration and proportions to a real habu pit viper (Trimeresurus flavoviridis), its tail ends with a USB hub and its tongue is tipped with a matching USB connector, and like producer Habu Kazumasa, it wears glasses.
Hubmon's final appearance was in the final entry of the Digimon World Re:Digitize iteration of "Hubmon's Dokudoku Hublog" on November 28 2011.[2] It has not been used by Bandai Namco Games ever since, but "habumon" (its name in rōmaji) is still Habu Kazumasa's Twitter handle.
