The Digimental of Hope (希望のデジメンタル Kibou no Dejimentaru; Dub: Digi-Egg of Hope) is a Digimental that is used to induce Armor Evolution.

Overview[edit]

Design[edit]

Like other Armor Evolution Digimentals, the Digimental of Hope is a bulky, egg-shaped object. Its shell bears a very strong resemblance to the barrel armor of one of the Digimon that it creates, Pegasmon; it is also topped with Pegasmon's ears and a tuft of its mane. Its corresponding Crest, the Crest of Hope, is inscribed on its surface, in the same place as on Pegasmon's barrel armor.

The Digimental of Hope contains the elemental attribute of Holy 「神聖」, and it is this elemental power from which Digimon who use this Digimental to Armor Evolve draw their power.[1] Armor Digimon who have used the Digimental of Hope are granted holy powers, with which they can exhibit absolute strength over evildoers.[2]

Digimon Adventure 02[edit]

The Digimental of Hope in its resting place.

The Digimental of Hope is one of the first five Digimentals that the Four Holy Beasts chose to provide to a new group of Chosen Children in order to stop the Digimon Kaiser. They had it placed in a cave in the Digital World, together with the Digimental of Light.[7]

The Chosen Children's D-3s detect the Digimentals on their third expedition into the Digital World, and Takeru Takaishi, Yagami Hikari and Hida Iori track them to the cave using Iori's D-3 while the others hold off the Digimon Kaiser's forces. Although they are skeptical of their ability to claim the Digimentals due to the failure of other members of the 1999 Chosen Child group to do so, approaching the Digimentals triggers a reaction in their Digivices that transforms them into D-3s of their own. Takeru takes the Digimental of Hope, causing Patamon to immediately Armor Evolve into Pegasmon. Iori later reflects that he feels that there is a difference between the Digimentals of Hope and Light, and the other three Digimentals belonging to himself and the other new Chosen Children, Patamon and Tailmon evidently became able to Armor Evolve instead of a new Digimon being released.[3]

Digimon Adventure 02: Armor Evolution to the Unknown[edit]

After the Chosen Children's D-Terminals are mixed up by Kido Jo colliding with the group, Motomiya Daisuke hurriedly takes Takaishi Takeru's D-Terminal and, without knowing whose D-Terminal it is, initiates an Armor Evolution. Because of this, V-mon uses Takeru's Digimental of Hope to Armor Evolve into Sagittarimon.[8]

Video Games[edit]

Digimon Adventure 02: Tag Tamers[edit]

The Digimental of Hope is an obtainable item of the Armor category. Equipping it on a Digimon has three possible effects:

  • If equipped by a Patamon, it teaches Patamon the Shooting Star Armor Evolution technique the next time that a battle is won. After this point, as long as the Digimental is equipped, Patamon can use Shooting Star to briefly Armor Evolve into Pegasmon, who performs the technique before immediately reverting back into Patamon.
  • It increases the equipper's resistance to Beam techniques.
  • Like any other Digimental, having it equipped on Digimon will, depending on their Digitama line, cause them to evolve into a different Adult, Perfect or Ultimate Digimon than they would have without a Digimental equipped.

The Digimental of Hope must be rebuilt by taking three Hope Fragments—which can be found in the Black Ship dungeon on Ichijouji Ken's side—to Centalmon's Digimental Shop. Alternatively, the player may receive it by trading with compatible video and LCD games.

Digimon Adventure 02: D-1 Tamers[edit]

The Digimental of Hope is an obtainable item of the Digimental category. Equipping it on a Digimon has two possible effects:

  • If equipped by a Patamon, it grants access to the Shooting Star Armor Evolution technique in Patamon's sixth technique slot. When used, Patamon briefly Armor Evolves into Pegasmon, who performs Shooting Star before immediately reverting back into Patamon.
  • Like any other Digimental, having it equipped on Digimon will, depending on their Digitama line, cause them to evolve into a different Adult, Perfect or Ultimate Digimon than they would have without a Digimental equipped.

The Digimental of Hope can be purchased from Centalmon's Digimental Shop at any point in the game, or received by trading with compatible video and LCD games.

The Digi-Egg (Digimental) of Hope is a collectible item that is used in battle to Armor Digivolve (Armor Evolve) Patamon into Pegasusmon (Pegasmon). Unlike the Japanese D-3 line, none of the other playable Digimon may use it.

Using the Digi-Egg of Hope does not incur a D-Power point cost and can be done without limitation, but if used, there is a small chance that it may break after a battle, regardless of its outcome, requiring it to be re-obtained.
