Amano Yuu is an antagonist, later turned protagonist, in Digimon Xros Wars, and a protagonist in Digimon Xros Wars: The Young Hunters Who Leapt Through Time.

Profile[edit]

Yuu is the younger brother of Amano Nene. While growing up, he loved other people and creatures and didn't want to hurt anyone, but had to hold himself back to prevent hurting others and came to resent it.

Yuu's first encounter with the Digital World was several years prior to the commencement of the series; while hiding from everyone in sorrow from the death of his grandmother, Damemon first appeared before him, and Skull Knightmon drew him into digital space, had him register his black Xros Loader, and promised to come back for him one day when the "game" was "ready" for him.

Digimon Xros Wars & The Evil Death General and the Seven Kingdoms[edit]

Amano Nene was led to believe that Yuu was lost or trapped somewhere in the Digital World, as discussed in XW19, and so was working with Skull Knightmon to try and find him, or so she said; in reality, Skull Knightmon was entirely aware of Yuu's whereabouts and used that knowledge against Nene to coerce her into helping him. Once he came into possession of the Darkness Loader, however, he went back on his deal and refused to return Yuu.

During Kudou Taiki's absence from the Digital World, Skull Knightmon began allowing Yuu to "play the game" as a human general to lead the Bagra Army. Yuu was under the mistaken impression that the Digital World was little more than a game by nature, that no-one would actually die, and were he to kill Taiki or Nene they would still be alive and well in the Real World. Taiki and Nene's best efforts to convince him otherwise failed, if partially because of the influence of Damemon and Skull Knightmon, and he simply continued to cause the deaths of Digimon en masse gleefully. He first revealed himself to Xros Heart in Honey Land in XW37.

His fight with Taiki in XW47 caused him to have doubts about what he'd been led to believe, and with the death of Damemon from wounds sustained in the battle of Hell's Field, he fully realised the magnitude of his actions, but was then captured by Dark Knightmon and used to fuel the Darkness Loader. He was rescued by Taiki and, in the final battle against Darkness Bagramon in the real world, transformed the Darkness Loader into a yellow Xros Loader and led the Xros Heart charge against the bulk of Bagramon's forces as a General.

Digimon Xros Wars: The Young Hunters Who Leapt Through Time[edit]

In the year since, he has joined Taiki's Xros Heart street basketball team along with Akashi Tagiru. He is in the same class as Tagiru, and thinks him to be an airhead at times. As a result of deeply regretting his actions under Skull Knightmon's influence and his desire to atone for them, he objects strongly to anyone who treats anything Digimon-related such as Digimon hunting as merely a game, trivial or to be exploited for personal gain, and is very vocal about his distaste; he has come into conflict with Tagiru and Mashimo Hideaki on this matter on several occasions.

He currently lives in a massive apartment alone, as Nene has since moved to Hong Kong to work as an idol and his other relatives are overseas at the moment.

References Notes
  1. Yuu has used as many Digivices as Akiyama Ryou; although he has only two different Digivice models (he had claimed two Xros Loaders and a Darkness Loader), whereas Ryou has used three separate models (a Digivice, a D-3 and a D-Ark).
